You are hereby notified that a Special Pekin School Election will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.
ONLY ELIGIBLE VOTERS IN THE PEKIN COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT
ARE ELIGIBLE TO VOTE IN THIS SPECIAL ELECTION.

ALL POLLS IN KEOKUK COUNTY OPEN AT 7:00 A.M. AND WILL CLOSE AT 8:00 P.M.

Please note that some of the polling places have been temporarily moved for this special election only.

     Pre-registered voters are required to provide an approved form of identification at the polling place before receiving and casting a regular ballot.  Voters who are not pre-registered – such as voters registering to vote on Election Day – and voters changing precincts must also provide proof of residence.  A voter who is unable to provide an approved form of identification (or prove residence if required) 1) may have the voter’s identity/residence attested to by another registered voter in the precinct, 2) prove identity and residence using Election Day Registration documents, or 3) cast a provisional ballot and provide proof of identity/residence at the County Auditor’s Office by 12:00 noon on Monday, September 16, 2024. Election Day Registrant attesters must provide an approved form of identification.  For additional information about providing proof of identity and/or residence visit: https://sos.iowa.gov/voterid, phone (641) 622-2320 or email cbates@keokukcounty.iowa.gov.  Any voter who is physically unable to enter a polling place has the right to vote in the voter’s vehicle. 

     Public testing of the voting equipment will be held on August 23, 2024 beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the Elections Room, adjoining the Keokuk County Auditor’s Office, 2nd floor of the Keokuk County Courthouse, Sigourney, Iowa and continue until testing is finished.

     Public Measure MJ – SHALL THE FOLLOWING PUBLIC MEASURE BE ADOPTED?
"Shall the Board of Directors of the Pekin Community School District change the method of election of its seven (7) directors from five (5) director districts and two (2) at-large directors pursuant to Iowa Code § 275.12(2)(c) to election of all seven (7) directors at-large from the entire district by the electors of the entire district pursuant to Iowa Code §  275.12(2)(a) with an effective date of July 1, 2025?”
