Opioid Settlement

The Keokuk County Opioid Settlement funds will be used to improve the lives of Keokuk County Residents and assist in community outreach regarding resources and education. According to the guidance in the Exhibit below, the funds may be used for the prevention, abatement, and treatment of substance misuse. The Keokuk County Opioid Settlement Committee makes recommendations to the Keokuk County Board of Supervisors. The Board of Supervisors have the final vote during a regular BOS meeting.

Opioid Settlement Quarterly Report for Current Awardees

  • Organizations must include an itemized bill each quarter, including copies of large purchases, staff wages, and fringe benefits, etc.  Please work with your financial contact or accountant.
  • Email the report to Auditor Christy Bates at cbates@keokukcounty.iowa.gov
  • If awarded funds, the reports are due on or before the following dates:
    • July-September, Quarter 1, Due October 15th
    • October-December, Quarter 2, Due January 15th
    • January-March, Quarter 3, Due April 15th
    • April-June, Quarter 4, Due July 15th

  • Launched a Deterra Deactivation System initiative to help safely remove expired or unused medications from homes by distributing free disposal pouches through community and public health outreach events. | $1,591.00 | COMPLETE
  • Implemented a community health and emergency response initiative by training one staff member to teach CPR, BLS, and First Aid; providing training in schools and community settings; purchasing supplies to support hands-on training, including AED batteries for rapid response readiness; and educating participants on EpiPen use and auto-injector administration. | $1,996.44 | COMPLETE
