Who Pays for Home Care?

Medicare

Straight Medicare only. No advantage plans. Must meet requirements set by Medicare such as homebound, requiring intermittent skilled care, acute skilled need. 

Medicaid

Wellpoint, Iowa Total Care, Moline Healthcare Iowa, Straight Medicaid

The State of Iowa has privatized Medicaid provided by Wellpoint, Iowa Total Care, and Molina Healthcare Iowa for lower income brackets. Clients do not have to be homebound. Services may be covered by most Iowa waivers.  

Private Health Insurance

Policy coverage varies. Generally, private insurance is limited to physician-directed home health services. Some require prior authorization and home-bound status. There are some private health insurances we have no contract with and are unable to bill. Ask us for further information. 

Private Pay/Patient

Services can be paid for privately. Charges are based on a sliding fee. Income and resources determine the client’s fee percentage. Supplemental funds may be available based on financial need and are partially funded by the Milestones Area on Aging and county tax dollars.
