Job Title: Assistant Field Appraiser
Department: Keokuk County Assessor, 101 S Main St, Sigourney, IA 52591
Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week) Salary: Annual range: $40,000 - $45,000
Essential Functions and other details of the Job:
- Inspect buildings and improvements, both interior and exterior, during all phases of construction. Measures, lists, and verify all relevant data to property. Keeps track of needed information on new construction or other changes in properties, i.e., remodeling, building removal, etc.
- Works with CAMAVISION -- computer aided mass appraisal software. Enters information gathered on property, sketch and photograph as needed, integrating into the database. Document changes made in property.
- Works with Connect Explorer or Beacon in preparing for field work to establish most efficient method or plan in inspecting properties.
- Provide answers to inquiries regarding assessments and legal descriptions, research possible errors and discrepancies. Responds to questions by property owners by describing data and methods used to establish value.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required:
- Graduation from High School or GED, with work experience of at least 2 years preferably involving some outside work environments which may have included hours during the day of walking, standing, and/or sitting in a vehicle or in the office.
- Basic math ability includes calculating amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, and volume.
- Basic computer skills including familiarity with MS Office products especially Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Communicate professionally and courteously to a variety of possible temperaments and/or personalities.
Mental and Physical Demands and Environment:
The work is typically a mixture of outside and office work which includes contact with the public on a frequent basis and may include exposure to seasonal weather conditions and construction noise.
